Social Media College is thrilled to announce that our co-founders, Daniele and Jonathon Tanner have become finalists in Business News Australia’s 2021 Sydney Young Entrepreneur Awards. The Sydney Young Entrepreneur Award recognises the city's top business founders under 40, who have started their own business in Sydney.
This award is the city’s most prestigious business initiative that celebrates the success of entrepreneurs under age 40 who have built thriving companies, deliver innovation and take ideas to great heights. Particularly during a year of great upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the creativity and ingenuity of entrepreneurs has been in the spotlight.
What is the judging criteria?
Though not an exhaustive list, these are some criteria the judges will be evaluating:
Financial Performance: Turnovers and growth are important, but so is the sustainability of the business model. Judges will be examining the maturity of the company and where its current growth sits on that timeline.
Disruption: Is the business a leader or pioneer in its field and/or is it disruptive? In some instances disruption may need to be measured more by the way the business operates rather than by a specific technology that gives it a competitive edge. Is it staying ahead of the curve through disruption?
Entrepreneurial Spirit: What is your vision? Do you demonstrate personal commitment in the face of adversity? Do you show a lack of fear through a belief in the business and in themselves?
Vision: It is usually a given that entrepreneurs have vision, but it's also important to see how that vision has become reality.
Community Impact: What sort of impact is your business making through jobs, work environment and even inspiring others to greatness?
The Award
Social Media College continuously strives toward innovation, delivering cutting edge content along with developing an industry leading, virtual learning experience, which has become essential during COVID-19. Those who participate in the awards will be fortunate to form part of an influential cohort with access to key stakeholders in both business and government. Every entrant in the Young Entrepreneur Awards will be considered for inclusion in Business News Australia's exclusive Top 100 Young Entrepreneur list published later this year.

Social Media College will be recognised alongside the other Sydney Finalists at a gala event hosted at Ivy Ballroom in Sydney on Thursday 25 November. The night will be a great opportunity to bring together our friends, family and colleagues to celebrate the success of SMC, while mingling with like-minded entrepreneurs and professionals. Those who are winners at the city-based awards will then be invited to the Australian Young Entrepreneur Awards.
