The LearnX Awards are an international awards program that recognises multiple fields within learning, development and talent management across various industries, including education. Each year these awards are designed to highlight superior projects and solutions that deliver best practice and business value. We are thrilled to share that the Diploma of Social Media Marketing has been selected as a finalist for both ‘Best Certification Training Project’ and ‘Best Blended Learning Model’!
What do these awards mean?
'The Best Certification Training Project' award focuses specifically on a learning and development (L&D) project that issues a certificate to participants upon satisfactory training/course completion. There have been over 7,000 students enrolled in the Diploma of Social Media Marketing since its launch to market in 2016.
The 'Best Blended Learning Model' award focuses on a blended learning model in which two or more delivery methods are used to support/advance employee learning and business performance. The DSMM is delivered in face-to-face settings, live virtual classrooms and as an asynchronous online experience by over 35 partner Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). It has integrated social learning in dedicated Facebook or WhatsApp groups and a private Facebook alumni group.
What are the judging criteria?
In order to apply for the awards, one must meet a challenging set of standards. These include:
Meeting Business Needs to demonstrate there was a business need that led to our organisation developing a solution. In Australia, we have one of the highest adoption rates for social media in the world, with 18 million active social media users as of September 2020. It was clear to SMC that demand for social media education was high. The course structure and content of the Diploma of Social Media Marketing have been determined and endorsed by industry representatives through a range of consultative processes, including focus groups, scoping meetings, interviews and industry consultation surveys.
Strategic Alignment to the organisational learning strategy and objectives of Social Media College. At SMC, we aim to provide high-class social media education in diverse and accessible formats, with content written by industry experts to create a highly engaging and comprehensive qualification. Our Diploma also provides university articulation.
Design for the Diploma of Social Media Marketing includes face-to-face, virtual classroom and self-paced asynchronous delivery. The asynchronous learning content supports the face-to-face and virtual delivery, and is designed across 6 units. Each unit has up to 9 modules, with a strong emphasis on adult learning principles and social learning.
Delivery through a partner network of the best RTOs within Australia who can choose and blend the delivery modes that best suits their organisation and students. It was decided to develop the Diploma for all delivery modes, as particularly in 2020, face-to-face delivery was often restricted. By providing regular training and professional development opportunities for the trainers, together, we aim to provide the best outcomes for the students.
Measurable Impact along with performance outcomes using a mix of qualitative and quantitative metrics. Our students have gone on to achieve incredible things, even while they are studying! From launching new and exciting businesses which they have been dreaming up for years, to landing new clients that provide steady revenue that improve the life for their families. The Intensive has empowered our students to make their own unique impact on the world.
