One of the most common questions we get asked by our students is: "How do I get my content to rank higher on Google?" If you're in the social media marketing scene, there's a big chance you've asked the same question at some point. In fact, it's one of the most important things to know if you're ever looking to increase organic traffic to your website. And we're here to help. In the video above, we explain:
- Why targeting specific keywords matters
- Which factors you should look at when analysing keywords
- Which keyword tool you should use
- How to set up a sheet with potential keywords
- How to filter them and pick some winners
- How to plan one year ahead
Does it work?
How do we know if this strategy works? Because we use it ourselves here at Social Media College. Below is a snapshot of our Google Analytics for the first half of 2021. It shows the amount of traffic to our website that came from organic Google searches.
As you can see, with this strategy we're getting increased organic traffic over time. It might take you a couple of months before it really shows. But if you keep at it, you will get there. In addition, if you're also creating a video using the same target keyword, you can double down and get even more results. Below is a screenshot of our impressions on YouTube for the first half of 2021.
If you're looking to achieve similar results, we highly recommend watching the video up top in full. At the end of the video, you will have your own keyword strategy for the next 6-12 months and your content will start getting more and more traction as you go. However, keep in mind that this is not a walk in the park, and it might take you some time before you've found your keywords. But once you're set for the next 6-12 months, you'll be one happy marketer.
