LinkedIn can be challenging to navigate as there is such a variety of channels to go through. However the reality is that although it takes some skillful planning on your part,itâs easier than youâd think. From finding your dream client, a new business partner, employee or future job opportunity, there is an array of opportunities on LinkedIn, and with these easy tips you can maximise these opportunities easily.
1. Join Appropriate Groups
Use specific keywords to find the best groups for you and let your networking skills shine. After all, thatâs what LinkedIn is all about; ask questions, make comments on content shared and maintain an active presence.
When you are looking for a new client, business partner or job opportunity sing it loud and clear! Think of your fellow group members as people on your team; they usually are more than willing to help.
2. Choose a Professional Photo
This should seem like a no-brainer, but we canât tell you the amount of grainy selfies that we see on a daily basis. This is a professional networking site, so make sure your profile picture represents your professional side. Use a clear headshot, it doesnât have be taken by an expert photographer.
Our tip? Use natural light, it brings out the best.
3. Endorse, Endorse, Endorse!
If you endorse for others, theyâll often come back and return the favor. Same goes with writing reviews if youâve personally worked closely with someone. By receiving these endorsements and recommendations you are proving your credibility!
4. Be Descriptive
You only have 120 characters to showcase what exactly you do, so make those 120 characters count. For example, if youâre a consultant you may want to include a significant personal achievement in yours. An example? âPR Guru that Will Get You Booked in Under 60 DaysâFeat In: Vogue, NY Times + The Wall Street Journalâ is much catchier than âPublicist.â
5. Be More Than Your Career
Be sure to include other things that make you, you. Do you volunteer on the weekends? Serve on any executive boards? Care deeply about a particular cause or organization? Infuse it into your profile.
âOne thing you can control is effortâ-Â Mark Cuban, so go the extra mile and make your profile stand out from the rest. This will maximise your LinkedIn opportunities.
